An intimate, cinematic Expereince

My Hope For You and Your Family

Whether you’re booking a film for your loved one or you’re the one being filmed, my hope for you is the same. I want you to feel 100% comfortable and connected throughout this entire experience. Comfortable sharing your story, asking hard questions, and getting vulnerable. Connected to each other, your history, and of course—me!

And once your film is created, my genuine hope is that you feel a renewed sense of belonging, a strong feeling of togetherness, and deep relief that your family’s history is preserved forever.

I can say with confidence that this film—and the entire experience of making it—will be something you and your family cherish for a lifetime. And I can’t wait to be part of it!

We’re In This Together

I’ll be guiding you every step of the way—walking you through what to expect, how to prepare, and how to kick any nerves to the curb. . I’ll provide tangible resources that offer clear direction about what to gather before the interview and how to avoid the fear of being on camera (trust me, once we get started, you won’t even remember it’s there).

Consider me an unofficial official part of the fambam

Before We Film

Before filming, we’ll spend plenty of time getting to know each other either on the phone or through a video call. I’ll ask a bunch of questions about your family, your history, and the loved one(s) I’ll be interviewing. Why so many questions? So I have a better idea of where to take your documentary and what stories are worth uncovering and getting deeper details on. Plus, it’ll save us tons of time on film day if we already have a firm foundation. And if you have questions of your own, this is a great time to ask!

I’ll also walk you through what additional items might be handy for your film. Things like home videos, old photographs, or items that mean a lot to your fam. Not sure what to gather? Don’t worry, I’ll guide ya through it!

Meet + greet

By the time your film day comes along, we’ll already feel like close friends (yay!), making the whole process feel less overwhelming or scary. I’ll arrive at your home, set up my gear, pray over your loved one (if it’s something you’re open to), and start rolling.

The interview will feel less like an interview and more like a conversation. You won’t even need to look at the camera. Simply look directly at me or whoever you’re speaking to (yes, other family members are absolutely welcome in the room).

I’ll ask some questions, but you (or your loved one) are free to take the conversation wherever feels most natural. I want to know it all! This is your time to shine, so please, share anything and everything on your heart.

And if you’re lucky enough to be in the room while your loved one tells their story, think of this as an opportunity to peel back the curtain and get to know your loved one on a level you probably never have. To honor their story. To create a deeper, more powerful bond. And to be fully present for everything they have to say, share, and teach.

Once the interview portion is complete, we’ll snap some portraits, and before you know it, we’ll call it a wrap!

Film Day

Lights, camera, action:

After We Film

In 10-12 weeks, you’ll receive your complete, 30-45 minute legacy film. I’ll have edited all of our footage to truly capture the most important stories, words of wisdom, and additional items to create a powerful documentary that honors your loved one’s story in a timeless way.

Your film will be incredible regardless of how you choose to watch it. But there are a few ways to make the viewing experience even more special.

  • Make it a movie night! Gather all your loved ones in one room, bring your favorite snacks, and don’t forget the Kleenex (trust me on this one). Watch together with the lights low, and I promise it will be a night you’ll never forget.
  • Continue the conversation! After watching the film, spend some time talking about what you saw. Ask additional questions. Comment on your favorite parts. Let your loved one(s) tell you even more stories. And vow to continue seeking that intentional closeness.
  • Pass it down and pass it around! Save your film somewhere you’ll never lose it. Share it with other loved ones like aunts and uncles so they can join in on the experience. And when the time is right, pass it along to your children and grandchildren so they can pass it along to theirs. This invaluable heirloom will spark joy in your family for generations to come.

Congrats—you’ve just preserved a powerful piece of your family’s history with a one-of-a-kind film you’ll want to press play on over and over. Now THAT’S something worth celebrating.

And yes, I fully plan on staying a part of the family!

I’ll also walk you through what additional items might be handy for your film. Things like home videos, old photographs, or items that mean a lot to your fam. Not sure what to gather? Don’t worry, I’ll guide ya through it!

The final product

Q: HOW DO WE PREPARE FOR THE PHOTOSHOOT OR INTERVIEW?!

A: I’ll send you a detailed welcome guide with all the information and guidance you could need. But the long short of it is—you’ll receive a questionnaire that will give me a ton of insight on your grandparent or loved one, and you’ll have the opportunity to share some questions you really want me to ask during the interview. I’ll also ask you to gather old photographs or home videos of them throughout their life for use within their film. We will have plenty of time to chat via email and FaceTime before we shoot, so don’t stress!

Q: IS FAMILY ALLOWED TO SIT IN ON THE INTERVIEW?!

10000% YES! The more, the merrier. Spending quality time with your family is essential, and what better way to do that than listening to them share their life story? Along with that, YOU know them better than I do. While I WILL come prepared with a ton of questions, you're always welcome to hop in and ask something I may not have prior knowledge of. Plus, I'm sure they'd be STOKED and WAY comfier to have the fam bam join in on all the fun!

Q: MY LOVED ONE DOESN'T WANT TO GET IN FRONT OF THE CAMERA. NOW WHAT?

First off—that’s normal! A lot of people get camera-shy. I have a complete guide to help you gently persuade your parent or grandparent to do the interview. And if they’re still hesitant, share these reviews with them (sometimes, all it takes is a little confidence from their peers).

Q: HOW DOES PAYMENT WORK?

A: I require a 30% non-refundable retainer at the time of booking and signing the contract. The remainder is due the day of the interview. I accept payment through PayPal and HoneyBook (including credit cards and ACH).

Q: WHAT HAPPENS IF WE CANCEL OR RESCHEDULE?

A: Once your date is scheduled and booked, your retainer fee is non-refundable. If you decide to reschedule, you will need to pay a new retainer fee. This is to account for the opportunity lost by forfeiting your scheduled date and not being able to schedule a different shoot in its place.
